Above: Graffiti wall in Moscow. Of course there are going to be some shots of graffiti from my trip to Moscow! It isn't a complete trip without finding some of those. This shot is only a small portion of an entire wall we walked past near Red Square. I LOVE the way the colors and lines create new forms into individual works of art. I don't speak Russian, so I apologize if there is something naughty up there. If there is, it's just beautiful elements making a beautiful masterpiece. Huh, makes you think how one bad written word in one language has the potential to be simple design in another. A rose by any other name, right? Okay, that one's over used. But, you know what I mean.

It seemed like winter would never end! Yes, that's how long it's been since I have revisited this blog. No need to dwell on my past. I'm moving forward! I mentioned a trip to Russia the last post and I was all excited that the Russia Fashion Week was going to overlap with my stay. I was sadly wrong. And the driver of our car to to the hotel said he never even heard of it. But he could talk cars!
Either way, my trip was fantastic! I was so surprised how small St. Basil's church is. That's it in the background of my selfie with my husband. Consider me not very bright, but I was unaware St. Basil's is actually nine small churches in one. They were all fantastic - what a beautiful building! I had to include my selfie with a feature I was up until this point, unaware my phone could do. The image below is a close up of A Nike store and Starbucks in Russian lettering. Not being from there and their alphabet being so industrialistly different from ours, I thought it was fun to see how the western brands look in another country. I may add more photos from my trip here and there. I'd like to talk about the historical designs I was able to capture some snapshots of. Why was I so surprised Moscow was so industrial in style. Goodness, right? |
AboutHi! I am Rita Chuk-Petroskas, I am the designer behind Chukpet (sounds like duke-pet). I am a sipper, a dipper and a print and pattern maker. This will be where I chronicle anything related to any of the listed above subjects. In other words, fluff and stuff from this girl's point of view. Archives
